And The Rains Chase Us Down

A Kenyan Photography Safari

This collection features my absolute favorite photographs from four of Kenya’s National Parks, captured with a mirrorless Nikon Z6ii and a Tamaron 100-400mm zoom lens. I traveled to the Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha, and Amboseli National Parks in 2023 just a few weeks before the rainy season. As evidenced by the water buffalo skulls littering the landscape, the wildlife in the shadow of Mt. Kilimanjaro were struggling with the end of the drought. In contrast, the Maasai Mara was already drenched in evening rainfall, and cheetah were stalking topi in sprawling savannas with flourishing grasses. These dramatic swings between abundance and scarcity highlighted the incredible diversity and dramatic beauty of Kenya’s spectacular wilderness.
